Dieting...The Endless Battle

I really hate dieting! At times, I have a lot of will power, but at other times, I have none. Why can't we just eat whatever we want to and never gain weight! (that would be utopia) It just seems like every time I lose a few pounds that I just gain it right back again. I take one step forward and three steps back. I wish losing weight was easier than it is. Why can't there just be a magic pill or something!

Weight is the endless battle...for some it is a battle which will be won...and for others it is a battle which will never be won. I hope this battle will be the one that I can and will win!

You can do this, General. So can I, if I just believe!

Well, I hope that I can do this (sometimes I wonder). I keep cheating, which I know is bad, but I just can't help myself.

Part of the problem, eating out! This is the death of all diets!! Sometimes, like yesterday, I did schoolwork ALL DAY! I was too busy and too tired to cook dinner! I knew that B. would not want to cook dinner when he got home, so I had him pick up dinner on his way home. The upside is that I had a salad, the downside is the dressing alone was 310 calories! This would be easy if I had someone to cook all my meals for me... I guess I can keep dreaming.

I know how you feel! I lost 60 pounds about 3 years ago. I always fight to keep the last 5-10 off. It is a never ending cycle. After my recent hysterectomy I have been losing the battle Ugh!! I became a personal trainer to help motivate myself. I have to exercise at least 3-5 times a week to keep it off. I can't diet...I love food too much. So I eat what I want. Weights help your body burn more calories. I try to incorporate weight bearing exercises at least 3x a week. This is something that takes only 15 minutes to complete.
As far as food goes...I have to love my crockpot. I drop it in the night before and put it in the fridge. When I get up in the morning I just plug it in and go!
Best of luck and know you are not alone in the weight loss battle!!

JOOM,
I do have an eliptical, which I like. Although it is still tough sometimes, I can do 20 minutes without a problem and plan on pushing myself to do more time. I also have some workout videos that are really fun, but they are still packed in the garage.

I wish I would have started sooner and not stopped.

People such as yourself are very inspiring.

Jazzy if you give me your tip for staying on the elicpical trainer for more than ten minutes I will share my salad secret with you. Oh I'll share anyway - because even with your secret I will battle staying on my crosstrainer.

Lemon wedges. I hope you like lemon. Instead of salad dressing squeeze fresh lemon on your salad. It isn't bleu cheese, but it's good, and dietary. :)

Cele,

I won't lie to you. The eliptical is hard! When I first started, I could barely do ten minutes, so I only did ten minutes. The second time I did it I forced myself to increase to 20 minutes, and I actually did it. I almost killed myself in the process, but I did it. I kept saying to myself "Ok just another minute." Before I knew it, 20 minutes was up. The hardest part for me is my feet. They start to cramp up on me while I am on the machine.

My secret is just work up to the amount of time that you want to spend on the machine. Force yourself to go further each time you are on the machine. Finally, get yourself a good pair of shoes! (only use them to work out with)

Hope this helps you! I will try the lemon on my salads. I do like lemon.
~Thanks :)
